Questions
When should we start planning a wedding?
About a year ahead is common, because popular venues and photographers book up first. With less time, start at the top of this list anyway: the stages that are already past show as Catch up, so you can see what to do first.
What should we do first?
The budget and a rough guest list, because both decide which venues fit. Then the date and the venue, and then the vendors who are hardest to get: the photographer, the band or DJ and the caterer if the venue doesn’t cater.
When do we send save the dates and invitations?
Save the dates go out six to nine months ahead, and up to a year for a destination wedding or a holiday weekend. Invitations go out six to eight weeks ahead, with a reply-by date about a month before the wedding so you have the final count for the caterer.
What do couples forget?
The marriage license (it can need an appointment and is only valid for a set time), the hotel room block, tips and final payments on the day, someone to hold the rings, the license and the emergency kit, and the thank-you notes afterwards.
Can we add our own tasks?
Yes. Each stage has Add a task for anything that is yours: a photo booth, a welcome dinner, dance lessons. Tick tasks off as you go, hide the done ones, print the list or copy it into a shared note.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
It’s free and needs no account. The checklist stays in your browser and nothing you tick or type is sent anywhere; this browser keeps it for next time.
