Seat the guests who said yes
Make a wedding website and guests reply on it: who’s coming, their meal and any plus-one. The seating plan there starts from those replies and counts meals per table for the caterer, and on the day each guest finds their table on their phone. Paste your guests above and they come with you onto its guest list. Free to make and publish.
A chart in three steps
- The guest list
- One party per line, the people who sit together: “Ana & Ben Silva”, “Ed Fox +1”. A line like “Groom’s family:” starts a group. Paste it straight from a spreadsheet column.
- The tables
- Add as many as the venue has, with the seats at each. Rename them (Top table, Table 1) and change any one table’s seats as you go.
- Seat and print
- Seat the top table by hand, tap Seat everyone for the rest, and fix any table you like. Print by table for the venue and A to Z for the escort cards.

Questions
How do I make a wedding seating chart?
Start with the guest list, one party per line: the people who should sit together, like a couple and their children. Group the parties (the bride’s family, college friends) with a line ending in a colon. Set your tables and seats, tap Seat everyone, then move people by tapping a name and a table. Print it by table for the venue, or A to Z for the escort card display.
How many guests fit at a table?
A 60 inch round seats 8, or 10 at a squeeze; a 72 inch round seats 10 to 12; a 6 foot banquet table seats 6 to 8, with one more at each end. Ask the venue what they have, then set the seats per table here. Each table can have its own number.
What does Seat everyone do?
It seats everyone not yet seated: each party at one table, biggest parties first, and each group at the same or neighbouring tables. Anyone you seated by hand stays where you put them, so you can place the top table and the family first and let it fill in the rest.
When should I do the seating chart?
Once most replies are in, usually two to four weeks before the day, and send the final chart to the venue a week before. Start a draft earlier with the guests you expect; changes to the list keep everyone else’s seat.
Can I use it for a party, a gala or a classroom?
Yes. It works for any event with tables: a rehearsal dinner, a birthday, a fundraising gala, a work dinner or a classroom. Rename the tables (Top table, Family, Table 1) to suit.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
It’s free and needs no account. The chart is made in your browser and the names you type are not sent anywhere; this browser keeps your chart so a reload doesn’t lose it. Download the CSV to keep a copy or to import the guest list into a wedding website.
